Who started LCB Tutors?

LCB Tutors was started by two Imperial College London graduates who wanted East London families to have good tutoring at a fair price.

Adam Lounis is our co-founder and Lead Tutor. He grew up in East London, went to Brampton Manor Academy, got 3 A*s at A-Level, and then studied for an MEng at Imperial College London. He knows from experience what local students are up against, and what it takes to aim high from here.

Abdus Saboor Shalik is our co-founder and Head of Science. He has a PhD from Imperial College London and is a published researcher. He plans our Science courses and trains our Science tutors.

What do we believe about tutoring?

We believe most children do not need expensive one-to-one lessons. They need clear teaching, regular practice and someone who notices when they are stuck.

That is why we work the way we do:

• Small groups of 3–5. Small enough for the tutor to check every student's work, big enough for students to learn from each other. Our guide on group vs one-to-one tutoring explains the trade-offs honestly.
• Teaching to the exam board. We use your child's own board's specification, past papers and mark schemes, because that is how marks are won.
• The same tutor every week. Your child builds a relationship with one tutor who knows their strengths and gaps.
• Affordable monthly plans. A fixed monthly price, no contract and no hidden fees, so families can keep going for the whole year. See our prices.
• Honest reporting. You get a progress report every month.

How do you keep children safe?

Safety comes first, and we take the same care whether lessons are in person or online.

Where is the centre?

Our centre is at Suite 1 - 1st Floor, Roding House, Cambridge Rd, Barking IG11 8NL. We teach families from Barking, Dagenham, Ilford, East Ham and across East London. Every plan also works as live online tutoring, at the same price.

Do you have an exam centre?

Yes. LCB is an approved exam centre in Barking, where students can sit GCSEs and A-Levels. This can help private candidates, students resitting an exam, and home-educated students. Please contact us for dates and fees. See our exam centre page.

LCB Tutors is a small-group tutoring centre based in Barking, East London.

The centre's address is Suite 1 - 1st Floor, Roding House, Cambridge Rd, Barking IG11 8NL.

LCB Tutors teaches 11+ preparation (Years 4–6), KS3 and GCSE (Years 7–11) and A-Level (Years 12–13).

The subjects taught are Maths, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and English. 11+ preparation covers Maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

Lessons are taught in groups of 3–5 students, in person in Barking or live online.

Monthly plans start from £52 a month for 11+ and GCSE, and from £72 a month for A-Level. There is no contract, and families can cancel anytime.

Every student starts with a free 30-minute assessment, in person or online.

LCB Tutors is Ofsted registered, all tutors are DBS checked, and female tutors are available on request.

LCB Tutors is also an approved exam centre in Barking for GCSE and A-Level exams.
