Tutoring in Dagenham: 11+, GCSE and A-Level
Quick answer
Dagenham students can join LCB's small groups (3–5 students) at our Barking centre, which is a few District line stops from Becontree, Dagenham Heathway and Dagenham East, or take the same lessons live online. We teach 11+, GCSE and A-Level Maths, Science and English, with plans from £52 a month.
How do Dagenham students get to the LCB centre?
Most Dagenham families reach us by District line or bus. Our centre is at Roding House, Cambridge Rd, Barking IG11 8NL, a short walk from Barking station.
On the District line, Barking is the next major stop west of Dagenham. TfL's route data lists the stations in this order:
| From | Stations in between before Barking |
|---|---|
| Becontree | 1 (Upney) |
| Dagenham Heathway | 2 (Becontree, Upney) |
| Dagenham East | 3 (Dagenham Heathway, Becontree, Upney) |
Several buses also run from Dagenham to Barking Station:
- 287 runs from Dagenham (Ballards Road, Dagenham Leisure Park and Gale Street) to Barking Station, according to TfL's 287 route data.
- 62 runs from Chadwell Heath and Becontree Station to Barking Station (TfL 62 route data).
- 5 runs from Becontree Heath and Martins Corner to Barking Station (TfL 5 route data).
We do not quote journey times, because they change with traffic and service. Please check the TfL Journey Planner from your home address.
Which Dagenham secondary schools do our students attend?
Dagenham has many of the borough's secondary schools, and results vary a lot between them. This table uses the 2025 GCSE ranking from the Barking and Dagenham Post.
| School | 2025 Attainment 8 |
|---|---|
| All Saints Catholic School | 56.1 |
| Goresbrook School | 55.5 |
| The Sydney Russell School | 50.9 |
| Robert Clack School | 50.4 |
| Jo Richardson Community School | 50.0 |
| Eastbrook School | 36.9 |
Robert Clack School is on Gosfield Road, Dagenham RM8, and is an all-through school for ages 3 to 18. Jo Richardson Community School is on Gale Street, Castle Green, Dagenham RM9, and has a sixth form.
Eastbury Community School is often thought of as a Dagenham school, but its address is Hulse Avenue, Barking IG11. Many of our Barking students go there, so Eastbury pupils from both sides of the borough often end up in the same groups.
What do Dagenham students usually need help with?
Most of the Dagenham students we see want to move up one or two GCSE grades in Maths or Science. The common goal is a secure 5, or a 6 or 7 to open up sixth form choices.
Attainment 8 is an average. A school with a lower score still has strong pupils, and a school with a high score still has pupils who are stuck at a 4. That is why we start with a free assessment of your child, not their school's results.
If your child is aiming at a selective sixth form, see our guide to selective sixth forms in East London. If results day did not go to plan, read GCSE results day in Barking and Dagenham.
Can Dagenham children sit the 11+?
Some can, but it depends on where you live. The Redbridge 11+ only offers places to children living in its common catchment area, which includes parts of Barking & Dagenham. Redbridge Council has a postcode map so you can check.
Some families in the east of the borough also look at Essex grammar schools. The CSSE runs a separate test with an English paper and a Maths paper for ten Essex schools in places such as Southend, Westcliff and Colchester. Our guide to Essex CSSE grammar schools explains the options. Our 11+ tutoring prepares children for both styles of test.
Is online tutoring a good option for Dagenham families?
Yes, if travel after school is hard. Every LCB plan works online as well as in person, with the same tutor, the same small group and the same monthly progress report.
Some Dagenham families mix the two. Their child comes to Barking on Saturdays and joins online on a weekday evening. Read more in online vs in-person tutoring.
How LCB can help
We run small groups for GCSE, A-Level and 11+, taught to your child's exam board. Plans start at £52 a month with no contract. Book a free assessment online or at the centre, and we will call you within 2 hours during opening hours.
