Tutoring prices: simple monthly plans

Quick answer

LCB Tutors plans cost £52, £96 or £132 a month for 11+ and GCSE, and £72, £136 or £192 a month for A-Level, for one, two or three lessons a week. That is £11 to £18 per small-group lesson. There is no contract, no hidden fees, and you can cancel anytime.

How much does LCB tutoring cost?

Every plan is a fixed monthly price, based on how many lessons a week your child has. Each weekly slot gives 4 lessons a month, in a small group of 3–5 students.

Plan Lessons Subjects 11+ (Years 4–6) KS3 & GCSE (Years 7–11) A-Level (Years 12–13)
Essential 1 a week (4 a month) 1 subject £52/month £52/month £72/month
Progress (most popular) 2 a week (8 a month) Up to 2 subjects £96/month £96/month £136/month
Exam Ready 3 a week (12 a month) Up to 3 subjects £132/month £132/month £192/month

How much is that per lesson?

The more lessons a week, the less each lesson costs.

Plan 11+ and GCSE A-Level
Essential £13 per lesson £18 per lesson
Progress £12 per lesson £17 per lesson
Exam Ready £11 per lesson £16 per lesson

What is included in every plan?

Every plan includes the same core things, whatever the price:

  • A free 30-minute assessment before you start
  • A small group of 3–5 students
  • The same tutor every week
  • Lessons taught to your child's exam board
  • A monthly progress report
  • DBS-checked tutors at an Ofsted-registered centre
  • Lessons at our Barking centre or live online

There are no hidden fees.

How does billing work?

You pay monthly for the plan you choose. There is no contract, and you can cancel anytime.

New groups start each month. If you book by the end of this month, your child can start next month. The first step is always the free assessment, so you only choose a plan once you know what your child needs.

How do these prices compare with other options in London?

Our plans usually cost less per lesson than private one-to-one tutoring, but the formats are different, so it is worth comparing fairly.

Option Typical cost Format
Private one-to-one tutor in London About £30–£50 an hour for GCSE, £35–£55 for 11+ and A-Level One student, one tutor
A national tuition centre in Barking Group Maths and English from £124 a month (1 session a week) Group sessions, ages 4–16
A worksheet-based maths and English programme in Ilford £70 a month per subject, plus £45 registration Self-paced worksheets with centre visits
LCB Tutors £52 a month (11+/GCSE, 1 lesson a week) Small group of 3–5, exam-board teaching

The one-to-one rates come from one London agency's 2026 price guide. The centre prices are taken from the published pages of Explore Learning Barking and Kumon Ilford, Seven Kings. Prices change, so check each provider directly.

One-to-one tutoring gives the most individual attention, and it can be the right choice for some children. Other centres offer different teaching styles that suit some families well. Our aim is simple: exam-board teaching in a small group, at a price families can keep up for a whole school year. Our guides on tutoring costs in East London and group vs one-to-one tutoring go into more detail.

Can Universal Credit help pay for tutoring?

It may, for children under 16. Universal Credit can pay back up to 85% of registered childcare costs for children until the 31 August after their 16th birthday. The childcare must be with a registered provider, usually registered with Ofsted.

LCB is Ofsted registered. Whether you can claim depends on your own Universal Credit claim, so please message us and we will help you check. This support does not cover students of A-Level age. Read our full guide to Universal Credit and tutoring.

How LCB can help

If you are not sure which plan is right, start with the free assessment. We will find your child's gaps, set a target grade and recommend a plan, with no pressure to sign up. Book a free assessment, or call or WhatsApp us on 07386 241 960.

You can also see how each level works on our 11+, GCSE and A-Level pages.

Questions parents ask

Do I pay for months with school holidays?
Please ask us at your assessment how lessons run around school holidays for your child's group, so you know exactly what each month includes.
Can siblings be on different plans?
Yes. Each child has their own plan at their own level, so one child could be on 11+ Essential while an older sibling is on GCSE Exam Ready.
Are online lessons cheaper than in-person lessons?
No, the price is the same. Every plan works either in person at our Barking centre or live online.
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. The 30-minute assessment is free, in person or online, and there is no obligation to join afterwards.
